PEOPLE AND PLACES EVERYWHERE

Nystromís Exploring Where and Why, Grade 3

Strengthen social studies skills while broadening students' view of community to include the surrounding region. Third graders are prompted to explore the size, location, and history of their own community to understand where they are in the world and why it matters. This complete core curriculum includes solutions for all ages and learning styles so every student can succeed.

Step-by-step lessons paired with component-based activities build strong social studies skills and concepts. As students touch elevation levels on raised-relief maps and mark locations on globes, they grasp a new layer of geography. The Map Champ animals highlight key concepts in the atlas and pose critical-thinking questions. A companion library of trade books and activities reinforces literacy while involving students in relevant topics. A Spanish-language version of this program is also available.
